As the sun rises and the sound of cow bells rings across the valleys, it is the dawn of another action-packed day in the resort’s Alpine Zone.

With a wealth of activities and boasting one of the most extensive outdoor ski runs in the UK, the Alpine Zone comes alive as excited guests leave their lodges to enjoy an exhilarating day on the state-of-the-art slopes.

Buggies meander through the resort picking up guests to transport them to the foot of the mountain where heated ski lifts are already taking the early risers to the summit and instructors wait to begin their lessons.

Sculpted into the dramatic terrain of the Afan Valley, the runs effortlessly blend into the stunning landscape to provide an adrenaline-pumping black run, down steep, spectacular drops; a testing red run and a gentler blue run where skiers gently make their way down a picturesque tree-lined course.

Covered walkways, drag and chairlifts take the strain as skiers of all ages and abilities make their way up and down the slopes while for those wanting to push themselves further, there are time gates, slalom courses, tubing and moguls to test their skills.

Ski-schools, kindergarten and toboggan runs provide the perfect opportunity for youngsters to build their confidence while the indoor alpine centre offers a children’s soft play area, ski simulators and zorbing for the whole family to enjoy.

As lunchtime approaches, the stunning sky lounge restaurant at the summit is the place to head and grab a bite to eat, enjoy a well-earned drink, take in the breathtaking views and recount the morning’s exploits with friends and family.

The afternoon resumes with the option of skiing competitions for all ages and the chance to really test your nerve with downhill speed trials and jumps, or simply sit back and take in the action from the sky lounge bar.

As the day draws to a close and skiers hit the slopes for one last run, the bars, restaurants and continental markets of the Alpine Village burst to life with the sound of music and merriment.

Outdoor fire-pits light up the sky and laughter fills the air as the après-ski begins to a backdrop of fireworks and professional ski displays.

Finally, as the music slows, and the last fireworks fade over the slopes, a stream of buggies transport weary but exhilarated guests back to the warmth of their lodges where they enjoy a night cap in the hot tub before finally collapsing into bed ready for another day of action to begin.
